"Ehe" Baroque
Trumpet
Design and Construction
- The "Ehe" baroque trumpet is an exact copy of an instrument made around
1720 by Johann Leonhard Ehe II
- Made entirely from tubing that is hand rolled from brass sheet
- As typical of the early brasses, wall thickness varies from .60mm in the
body of the instrument to .28mm at the bell rim
- The bore diameter is 10.7 mm with a bell opening of 10.66 cm
- As in the original, the sections are hand fitted without solder
- The use of original methods of construction produces an instrument with
virtually the same sound and response as the 18th century trumpets.
- All engraving and ornamentation is copied from the original
- A set of four tuning bits, the historical tuning method is supplied,
along with one half step crook and one whole step crook
Mouthpiece
- The timbre and response of any brass is determined by the mouthpiece as
well as, the instrument itself
- For the above reason, we include with the Maller trumpet is a copy of an
original mouthpiece dating from the eighteenth century
- It has a flat rim and hemispherical cup with a sharp drop into a wide
throat

- A high quality case has been specifically designed for this instrument
